Reputable mental health professional in Oldham
About me
I am an Integrative Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor specialising in adult mental health for the past 20 years, working with both private clients and those referred via the NHS. Historically I was involved with the Living Life to the Full (LLTTF) research development project, a computerised CBT (CCBT) programme, and volunteering with Anxiety UK as a helpline operator, developed and delivered anxiety and depression workshops.
During this time I have had the opportunity to engage with a wide range of presenting problems/issues and clients from differing cultural and religious backgrounds, LGBTQ+ community, clients with long-term health conditions and recognise the diverse needs of my clients.
We all experience mental health issues at some point in life, it is completely normal however for some it can become problematic, being overwhelmed, constantly worrying, feeling stressed, scared/frightened, down/low/depressed the list could go on. And as individuals we all have our own experiences and how this impacts upon us.

My Journey
Aged 18 I was diagnosed with depression, when mental health issues and treatment options were not as today and told by the GP “what have you got to be depressed at, at your age?” I didn’t have access to treatment other than medication, which had severe side-effects, therefore I stopped taking it, so, for a long time I suffered with my mental health alone and without any treatment nor understanding of what was happening to me.
Years later I was offered therapy, but it didn’t ‘fit’ or ‘work’ or I couldn’t complete the ‘homework’ or I felt the therapist lacked empathy or true understanding but eventually I found the right fit and the right counsellor AND what a difference. This changed the trajectory of my life and career, with the thought that if I could help others to create a shift and not experience some of the issues I had, that would be amazing. And this is what led me to becoming a therapist.
My aim is to create a safe and non-judgemental space for us to begin unpacking and exploring, developing coping techniques, offering support, with me walking beside you in your journey.
